Updated 2 Nov 2026

  1. Mockups load when you come back

A Video you opened in a background tab now loads its Mockups when you switch to it. Text and Layers stay clickable after you drag the playhead.

    • FixedMockups load when you come back: Open a Video in a background tab and its Mockups load as soon as you switch to it.
    • FixedText stays clickable: Dragging the playhead while the Video plays no longer leaves Text and Layers out of reach.
    • FixedCalm transition previews: Hovering a transition in the panel shows its preview without flicker.
  2. A cleaner Export window

Export has a fresh look and tells you when a phone is still empty. Clicking and dragging from the Library now give the same result.

    • ImprovedA cleaner Export window: Export has a cleaner look, with all its settings on one card.
    • ImprovedEmpty phones flagged: If a Shot’s phone has no screenshot yet, Export tells you and takes you to that Shot. It still exports.
    • ImprovedClick or drag, same result: Clicking a Library tile and dragging it onto a Shot now do the same thing. If a pre-made Shot can’t take it, it lands in a new Shot right after.
    • ImprovedFill a Gallery in one go: Drop a few pictures on a Gallery card and they fill the Gallery from that card.
    • FixedSaving keeps trying: If a save doesn’t go through, the editor tries again by itself and lets you know.
    • FixedPrompt bars stretch too: Stretching a Shot now stretches every part of a Prompt bar with it.
    • FixedShot corners on a full timeline: With lots of rows scrolled up, a Shot’s bottom corners stretch the Shot again.
    • FixedThe Library stays in reach: A Library you keep on top can’t slip off the screen anymore.
    • FixedSeveral files, one Undo: Drop a few files at once and one Undo takes them all back. The timeline sorts them like the Player, so no picture goes missing.
    • FixedSound on the timeline: Dragging the Sound tile to the timeline or the Shot rail now asks for your sound file.
    • FixedPlain upload messages: When a file won’t work or an upload stalls, the message says what happened in plain words and lets you try again.
    • FixedPhones stay on their shadow: A phone held in a hand stays on its shadow when your screenshot is short.
    • ImprovedOpens on your click: Opening a Video, or going back to Files, starts the moment you click.
    • FixedTransition menus in place: Transition chips open their menu where you expect, and the Player’s scrubber is easy to grab.
  3. Quick trims on long recordings

Long recordings are easier to edit now.

    • FixedQuick trims on long recordings: Trimming a long recording is quick now, and the editor keeps up while you work.
  4. Edit a Video of any length

There is no editing limit on any plan now. Make your Video as long as you like.

    • ImprovedNo editing limit: Edit a Video of any length on any plan. The timeline shows where your download ends.
    • ImprovedA fresh Window bar: The Window bar has a new look: grey dots, a full-width address and a round button at the end.
    • NewYour own icon: Put your own icon in the Window bar’s round button, or switch it off.
    • ImprovedYour panel stays while it plays: The panel you have open stays on screen as the Video plays. When you scrub, it shows the Shot under the playhead.
    • ImprovedVideos open faster: A Video you open from Files loads faster.
    • ImprovedExport remembers: Export keeps your Combined or Separate choice for the whole Video.
  5. The upload pill stays visible

Notices no longer cover the upload pill.

    • FixedThe upload pill stays visible: A notice now stacks just above the upload pill instead of covering it.
  6. Missing pictures load themselves again

If a clip, picture or Logo fails to load, the Player now fetches it again instead of showing an unavailable notice. We also made trimming on the timeline feel steadier and gave the recorder a long reliability pass.

    • FixedNo more unavailable notice: Clips, pictures and Logos that fail to load are fetched again, so they come back on their own.
    • ImprovedThe playhead rides your trim: Trim the front of a row and the playhead moves with the edge you drag, on any row, and catches lightly where they meet.
    • ImprovedRoom for a Recording: The timeline opens tall enough for a Recording and its Shot lid. Taller rows still grow and fold back.
    • ImprovedPreparing your upload: The upload pill shows a Preparing step while a video clip or recording gets ready.
    • FixedA sharp hand cursor: The Hand cursor stays crisp when the camera zooms in.
    • FixedSmoother motion blur: Fast camera moves blur the way they should in Smooth Preview and export.
    • FixedA steadier recorder: The recorded cursor follows a zoomed-in page, the recorder answers again after a pause, and uploads finish even after you leave the page.
    • ImprovedDragged pictures in recordings: A picture you drag in from outside the tab now rides the cursor, and the cursor hides while your pointer is off the page.
  7. Groups that work like frames

A Group now behaves like a frame its Layers sit in. Shapes got Opacity and keyframe diamonds, and Scatter works on every Text.

    • ImprovedGroups as frames: Move Layers freely inside a Group. Resizing it keeps each Layer on its side and the padding stays the same.
    • ImprovedTrim a Group like a Shot: Trim a Group, or any of its members, and everything inside stretches in proportion.
    • NewShape Opacity and diamonds: Shapes have an Opacity slider and keyframe diamonds on the timeline, and their keys squeeze with the Shape when you shorten it.
    • ImprovedScatter on any Text: Scatter works on every Text, and Scatter Stay is now an Accent of its own.
    • ImprovedCalm next to a cut: A Layer beside a cut now rests calmly in place.
    • ImprovedWord swap follows alignment: A single swapped word rolls in line with how your Text is aligned.
    • FixedRecorded cursor stays on target: Editing the camera no longer pulls a recorded Cursor off the arrow it covers.
    • ImprovedPatterns leave with their Text: Patterns now go when the Text they follow goes.
  8. Speed up a recording up to 8x

Long recordings can now play faster, from 1x to 8x, and the cursor, clicks and camera keep up. We also gave every plan a clear amount of upload space you can see in Files.

    • NewClip speed: Set a recording’s speed in its Animation panel, or right-click it and pick Adjust speed. Going back to the old speed gives you the Shot back exactly.
    • NewUpload space in Files: The Files sidebar shows how much space you have used. Uploads pause when it is full, and deleting a Video frees its files.
    • NewText Opacity: Text has an Opacity slider in its Design panel.
    • ImprovedPass points flow through: A Cursor no longer stops at a Pass point. It moves straight through.
    • FixedThe right first frame: Preview and export open on the right frame, not a zoomed-in one.
    • FixedMockups come back: A Mockup that fails to load, or vanishes after the tab sits idle, now draws itself again.
    • FixedCleaner cuts with Mockups: Pre-made Mockups no longer slide with the camera at a cut or show their edges.
    • FixedPatterns are clickable again: Clicking Patterns or a Gallery selects them again, not the Background.
  9. Clicks that ride what they press

We smoothed out clicks, Cursors and the timeline fold.

    • ImprovedClicks ride what they press: Click rings move with the Layer they landed on, and 3D Click bends only a Mockup’s screen.
    • ImprovedA friendlier empty phone: A new phone Mockup shows a small rocket and Drag your screen here until you add your own.
    • ImprovedShowing a Shot just selects it: Jumping to a Shot selects it without opening Design. Design opens when you ask.
    • FixedNo bounce on Pass points: A Cursor no longer overshoots its first or last Pass point.
    • FixedThe camera stays: Deleting the last camera point no longer removes the camera.
    • FixedShot posters refresh: The pictures on the Shot rail update again while you edit.
    • ImprovedA smoother fold: Switching the timeline between Layers and Shots glides without stutter, and a one-Shot Video loops in place.
  10. Animated icons, Groups and stretchable Shots

You can now add animated icons, group Layers so they move as one, and stretch a whole Shot from its corners on the timeline. We also made clicks and selection on the canvas more precise.

    • NewAnimated icons: Add a heart, a bell, a check and more from Elements. Each icon plays its own little animation as it lands.
    • NewGroups: Group Layers and they move, resize and animate as one, with their own toolbar. A Shape in the Group can hug what sits on it.
    • NewStretch a Shot from its corners: Drag the corners of a Shot’s lid on the timeline to stretch everything in it.
    • ImprovedRecordings as one Group: A website recording, its cursor and its camera sit together as one Recording on the timeline.
    • ImprovedNo blank time: A Shot always lasts exactly as long as its Layers.
    • FixedClicks land on what you see: Clicks, hovers, Group boxes and box selection now all use the same outline, so you pick what you meant.
    • FixedShrink without lag: Text with a Shrink no longer slows the Player down.
    • ImprovedA calmer start: A new Video holds the editor until it has fully arrived, and Luna’s tour follows the new editor.
  11. Shapes arrive, and Text can Scatter

We built the Shape Layer today: a block of colour you can round, fill with a gradient or an Effect, and animate between keys. Text also got Scatter, a letter scramble Accent.

    • NewShapes: Add a Rectangle, Rounded, Pill or Circle and fill it with a colour, a gradient or a Background Effect.
    • NewKeys on Shapes: Set a Shape’s size and corners at different moments and it changes smoothly in between. Edits at the playhead add or change a key.
    • NewA Prompt bar: A ready-made Prompt bar Template: a pill that hugs your typing Text, with a send button.
    • NewScatter: A new Text Accent that scrambles the letters into place. Layer and cut motion keep playing underneath.
    • ImprovedPush Up follows the move: Word Push Up letters now ride the Layer’s Slide, Grow or Shrink.
    • ImprovedColour from the toolbar: The toolbar’s colour opens its picker right there, for every kind of Layer.
    • FixedThe front Layer takes the click: Clicking picks the front-most Layer under the pointer, even over a selected Layer’s box.
    • FixedText styles keep your words: Adding a Text style no longer drops in the sample words its tile played.
  12. Copy a Shot into another Video

You can now copy a whole Shot from the Shot rail and paste it into another Video. We also added 1440p, made the editor open section by section with Luna keeping you company, and made playback calmer.

    • NewCopy and paste Shots: Right-click a Shot to copy it, then paste it where you right-click in any Video.
    • NewPick your quality: Choose 720p, 1080p or 1440p for Smooth Preview and Export.
    • ImprovedA gentler launch: The editor appears section by section, and Luna walks in with tips while it loads.
    • ImprovedScreenshots show at once: A dropped screenshot or picture appears straight away while it uploads, and a Mockup says Loading Mockup… while it gets ready.
    • ImprovedRecorder extras: After Stop you can Redo or Discard a take, and you can record local HTML files too. Recordings that meet now join with a plain cut.
    • ImprovedShorter tooltips: Tooltips are short, fade away, and stop showing once you know them.
    • ImprovedWord Swap and Word Tilt: Both now work on any Text.
    • FixedStill while playing: Panels and the Background panel no longer blink or jump while a Video or a hover preview plays.
  13. Browser window frames for your pictures

Images and video Layers can now sit in a browser window, with a bar, an address and a shadow. We also tuned recorded cursors and hover previews.

    • NewWindow bar: Put a browser window bar and shadow on an Image or video Layer, pick its colour and type its address.
    • NewCursor Size: Resize any Cursor with a slider or by dragging its corners on the canvas.
    • ImprovedHover previews keep playing: Hovering a transition loops the transition itself for as long as you hover.
    • ImprovedDuplicate in a new tab: Duplicating a Video opens the copy in a new tab.
    • ImprovedTrim a recording from the left: Drag a recorded Shot’s left edge to cut the recording, and drag back to restore it.
    • FixedThe recorded cursor stays put: Dranic’s cursor covers the recorded arrow even on fast moves, and the camera no longer stalls on quick trips to a click.
    • FixedRecordings fit their card: A recording’s card fits the page it shows, also after you resize the window.
  14. One camera for recordings

Recordings now use one camera: Cinematic, which follows your clicks. Its Motion menu holds Speed and Handheld, and every click you make shows on screen.

    • ImprovedCinematic is the camera: Recordings are filmed by the Cinematic camera, and Speed and Handheld live in its Motion menu.
    • ImprovedEvery click is shown: The camera never leaves a click out of frame, and it only follows the cursor toward its next click.
    • ImprovedYour box, exactly: A camera box you place films exactly there, even past the edge, and resizing it keeps its place.
    • ImprovedOne scroll for panels: Design and Animation are one scrolling panel, and the bubbles jump you to each part.
    • NewNew shot here: Right-click the Shot rail to add a new Shot right there.
    • ImprovedRecorder asks where to go: When you press Stop, the recorder asks where the recording should go.
    • ImprovedBackground Fill tabs: Solid comes first. Tabs only switch the view, hovering previews and a click applies.
    • FixedPictures while scrubbing: Pictures fill their card again while you scrub.
  15. Design and Animation panels on demand

Every Layer now has a clean white toolbar, with Design and Animation panels that open only when you want them. The Library got four simple tabs and new tile art that plays when you hover.

    • NewPanels on demand: Select any Layer for a white toolbar. Open Design or Animation beside the Player when you need them.
    • ImprovedFour Library tabs: Text, Media, Camera and Background. Cursors now live under Elements.
    • ImprovedTiles that show themselves: Library tiles show a still picture and come alive when you hover, with new art for Effects, Patterns, Gradients and camera moves.
    • NewBackground hover previews: Hover a Background to see it on your Shot before you pick it. Patterns play on hover.
    • NewPicture shapes: Image and video Layers can keep the picture’s own shape or go Wide, Tall or Square.
    • ImprovedLoop the whole Video: Loop now plays the whole Video, and the Handheld camera got a bit shakier.
    • FixedPlay you can rely on: Play and jumping between Shots no longer stall while the Video saves.
  16. Small touches to the timeline and recorder

The timeline opens tidier, and the recorder got a rounded card.

    • ImprovedSee every row first: The timeline opens showing all its rows, then folds to its usual height.
    • ImprovedBackground strip stays: The Background strip stays pinned at the bottom while Layer rows scroll.
    • ImprovedRecorder card: The recorder opens on the page as a rounded card, and its button becomes Stop while you record.
    • ImprovedA liquid upload fill: The upload island fills with Luna’s orange as your file goes up.
  17. The recorder becomes its own Chrome extension

The Website Recorder is now a Chrome extension of its own that hands your recording straight into the editor. We also started making the recording camera feel more natural.

    • NewA recorder extension: Record a website with the Dranic extension and it opens in the editor, signed in, ready to edit.
    • ImprovedAfter you press Stop: The panel stays open on your new file with Open file and Record again. If something fails, it tells you why.
    • NewFilmed for you: Recordings are filmed by a camera that follows what you do.
    • ImprovedSharp recordings: The Player shows website recordings from their sharp file.
    • FixedNo shake in 3D turns: Turned pictures no longer shake and have cleaner edges.
    • FixedRecordings back in sync: The cursor in older recordings now matches the video.
    • ImprovedA clearer upload pill: The upload pill fills up as it goes and says where the time is going.
  18. A Player-first editor

We rebuilt the editor around the Player so it fits real laptop screens, and made recordings feel like one piece on the timeline. Your cursor now sits right on the recorded arrow.

    • ImprovedThe Player comes first: The Player takes centre stage, and you can zoom it from anywhere on the canvas.
    • ImprovedA clearer timeline: A free ruler, the Video’s total length at the top right, and the Background as a colour strip with its transitions in the cut chips.
    • NewSnappy or Cinematic: One switch in every transition tray and menu, with all transitions on one 3x3 grid and Custom beside it.
    • ImprovedCamera points on the timeline: Camera points show as diamonds, with Spotlight and a camera box that glides between them.
    • ImprovedRecordings as one piece: A recording is one unit on the timeline, Dranic’s cursor sits on the recorded arrow, and 3D turns are slower and blend better.
    • ImprovedCalmer long Shots: Long Shots now settle and rest in their place.
    • ImprovedDots Strength: Dots Colour opens the colour box and gains a Strength slider. Hovering a transition fades the other Layers.
    • FixedRecordings across pages: The cursor keeps up when the recorded tab opens a new page.
  19. A recording camera you can trust

We spent the day on website recordings. The camera stopped jolting, learned to zoom only around what you do, and you can now cut a recording into pieces like any other clip.

    • NewA calmer recording camera: The recording camera holds still on quiet moments and zooms in around your clicks and typing.
    • NewCut a recording into pieces: Split a recording on the timeline. Delete a piece and the gap closes, with the camera and cursor moving along.
    • NewA recorded Cursor Layer: Your recorded cursor becomes its own Layer, drawn sharp on top of the one in the footage.
    • NewMotion blur on fast moves: Smooth Preview and export add motion blur when the recording camera moves quickly.
    • ImprovedSharper recorded pages: Pictures stay sharper under the camera, and pages record sharp even on small screens.
    • FixedNo jolts at the edges: The recording camera no longer jolts, and a point that follows the cursor never shows past the recording.
    • FixedNo bright arc at corners: A bright line of Background no longer shows at the Player’s rounded corners.
    • ImprovedUploads on a floating island: Upload progress now sits on a small island at the bottom centre, and floating panels open clear of the Player.
  20. Record a website straight into your Video

A big day. A website recording made in Chrome now lands in the editor, clicks got a picture ripple, and you can hide a Shot without deleting it.

    • NewWebsite recordings in the editor: Record a website and it arrives in your Video, with the camera drafted from your clicks. Coming soon to Chrome.
    • New3D Click: A Cursor click now bends the picture under the fingertip, with rings that start right after release.
    • NewPass, a new Cursor action: A Cursor point can now just pass through. You can type the Cursor’s name in place under any camera.
    • NewHide a Shot from playback: A hidden Shot stays in the rail and the timeline, dimmed, but skips playback.
    • ImprovedMore room for the camera box: The camera box scales out to the whole frame and can be pushed past the edges like a Layer.
    • FixedSnap zoom blur fits the frame: The Snap zoom focus blur is sized to the frame and no longer doubles in the Player.
  21. Style just part of a Text

Highlight a few letters, a word or a line and style only those. Camera points can now turn in 3D, and Sections now show where you watch your Video.

    • NewStyle part of a Text: Select letters, words or lines and change just their colour or style. The colour menu shows the result live.
    • NewCamera points turn in 3D: Turn the camera at a point with one knob, and check it in a floating Camera view.
    • NewSections in Smooth Preview: Sections show in Smooth Preview. Add a new Section from the gap between Shots, and drag Shots to a Section’s start or end.
    • NewLayers or Shots on the timeline: Switch the timeline between Layers and Shots. Shot names stay in view as you scroll.
    • ImprovedMove and trim several at once: Move several selected Shots together, and trim several rows together from any edge.
    • FixedTyping saves as you go: What you type saves as you type.
    • ImprovedClearer plans at Export: Export shows the plans when you need one, and your new plan shows as soon as you pay.
  22. Your Video can have sound

Add audio to the timeline and hear it as you edit and in your export. We also gave new Videos a short tour with Luna, so your first minutes in the editor feel easy.

    • NewAudio on the timeline: Upload sound from Media, place it under the Shots, and the Video plays it. Export carries it too.
    • NewEdit your audio: Add several files at once, cut a clip at the playhead, mute it, and move several clips together.
    • NewLuna’s tour: Every new Video starts with a short tour from Luna, with a progress bar and a tick for each step.
    • NewReport a problem from Luna: Report a problem or share an idea straight from Luna’s menu.
    • NewZoom the Player: Scroll over the Player to zoom it.
    • ImprovedBackground cuts hand over: Every Background kind now hands over at a cut the way two Effects do.
    • ImprovedSettings in Files: Account, Billing and Exports now live under Settings in Files.
    • FixedNo empty Library menus: A slow Library load no longer leaves a menu silently empty.
  23. Bring your own video clips

Upload your own video and use it as a Layer, trim it, and watch it play. Behind the scenes we added nightly backups for your work.

    • NewYour own video as a Layer: Upload a clip and it plays in your Shot. Trimming its row crops the footage.
    • ImprovedOne upload bar: Every upload, from images to Logos, shows its progress in one bar under the Player. Notices appear only when something fails.
    • ImprovedClips load faster: Your clips load faster when you open a Video.
    • FixedShort screenshots refused: A screenshot too short for the phone is refused instead of drawn as a thin strip.
    • FixedSign-in links: Sign-in email links work smoothly on every device.
    • ImprovedOne dark scrollbar: Every scrolling surface shares the same dark scrollbar.
  24. A Cursor that circles what it shows

The Cursor learned to move more like a hand. We also redesigned Files with bigger tiles and an Undo for deletes.

    • NewCircle, a new Cursor action: The Cursor loops round a point as if showing it, then settles. Move is now called Rest.
    • ImprovedHand-like Cursor moves: Cursor moves ease like a real hand, and actions fit the time between points instead of holding them back.
    • ImprovedCamera eases off the edge: The camera’s framing eases off the edge of the picture instead of jolting.
    • ImprovedA clearer camera box: The Camera view box shows thirds and a crosshair in one colour taken from the Background.
    • ImprovedFiles, redesigned: Big tiles, a ⋮ menu on each Video, and Undo after you delete one.
    • ImprovedEnter and Escape in Text: Enter starts a new line. Escape finishes and keeps what you typed.
    • FixedExport keeps going: If a Shot has a problem, Export tells you which one and can still finish the rest.
    • FixedHandles while typing: Visible handles always work, even while you type.
  25. Camera points come together

We finished the camera that visits several points in a Shot, filmed as one picture. Accents got a round of changes too.

    • NewSnap zoom and Handheld: Snap zoom lands with a focus pulse like a real camera, and Handheld shakes a little more.
    • ImprovedOne filmed picture: The camera now films the whole Shot as one picture, with a hold at each point and Wide and Parallax choices.
    • NewNew Accents: A circle Wipe, a water Ripple, and Dome in place of Wave. Accent None turns them off.
    • ImprovedRipple on Text: On Text, the Ripple lifts whole letters.
  26. The camera visits several points

The camera can now travel between several points in a Shot, and each point shows on the timeline with its own toolbar.

    • NewCamera points: Place several numbered points and the camera visits each in turn. Their dots sit on the timeline.
    • NewImage Layer: Drop in any picture as its own Layer, with one upload notice for every upload.
    • FixedSelecting never moves a Layer: Clicking a Layer to select it no longer nudges it.
    • FixedPictures fit their trim: A picture Layer fits its own trim, and older pictures past a Shot’s end play fitted.
    • ImprovedEven timeline zoom: The timeline zooms out the same however few Shots a Video has.
  27. Every Layer drags the same way

A drag now does what the pointer shows, for every Layer, the camera and Library items. One transition per cut became the only way cuts work.

    • ImprovedOne drag for everything: Layers, the camera, Galleries, Backgrounds and Library items all drag by one rule, and land where the pointer shows.
    • ImprovedDrag several Layers: Several selected Layers drag together, and moved Layers take on their new cut.
    • ImprovedOne transition per cut: Each cut has one transition, shown as a chip on the timeline.
    • ImprovedTimeline at every zoom: The timeline reads at any zoom. Ctrl + scroll and the mouse wheel glide, and the playhead holds still.
    • ImprovedQuiet cuts: Cuts play more lightly in the Player and on the timeline.
    • ImprovedShortcuts on any keyboard: Shortcuts work on every system and keyboard layout, and Ctrl/Cmd+S tells you the Video saves itself.
    • FixedNo surprise replays: With Loop Shot off, a Shot never replays by itself.
  28. A long day of steadier editing

We went through the editor for reliability and consistency: clicks, drags, toolbars and the Library. We also started on one transition per cut.

    • FixedSpace always plays: Space always plays, Play acts on what’s on screen, and one click selects a moving Layer.
    • ImprovedOne toolbar order: Every Layer’s toolbar follows one order, with Entry, Exit and a Delete button in the same place.
    • ImprovedA new Library: Bigger tiles with names on the artwork, a section list that follows your scroll, and a floating Library.
    • NewAccents on every Layer: Patterns, Cursor and Gallery take Blur, Wipe, Ripple and Wave like the rest.
    • ImprovedDrops land where they show: Timeline drags say what the drop will do, and why when it can’t land.
    • ImprovedKeep your place: Deleting a Shot keeps your place, and a refresh opens where you were.
    • ImprovedSee the whole Video: The timeline zooms out until the whole Video fits.
    • FixedText stays on its line: Word tilt and Live typing letters appear in their final places, so the line never shifts.
  29. Smoother Mockups

Our 3D Mockups now play more smoothly in the editor, Smooth Preview and export. We also moved the Mockup controls into the toolbar and fixed a dark edge around the hands.

    • ImprovedSmoother Mockups: Mockups play more smoothly wherever your machine keeps up, and fall back gently when it can’t.
    • ImprovedMockup controls in the toolbar: Screenshot, Hand and Notch are now toggles on the Mockup’s toolbar.
    • FixedNo dark outline on hands: Mockup hands no longer show a dark outline.
    • FixedNo blink on edits: Mockups no longer blink when you edit, or show a gap at the screen’s side.
    • FixedLayers move from where they sit: Mockups, Logos and aligned Text move from where they really sit, not from an anchor point.
    • FixedNo stray Text toolbar: A Text toolbar no longer appears for the next Shot.
  30. Snappy or Cinematic, your pick

Every Entry and Exit can now be Snappy or Cinematic. Hover either to preview it.

    • NewSnappy and Cinematic: Pick Snappy or Cinematic in any Entry or Exit menu. Hover either side to preview it.
    • FixedNo empty frame at a cut: A slide never leaves the frame empty at a cut.
    • ImprovedSmoother slow drift: Moving Text drifts smoothly, even very slowly.
    • ImprovedEntry and Exit in the Text bar: Entry and Exit sit in the Text bar, and each button shows its motion and Accent as icons.
    • ImprovedWord swap glides: Word swap keeps its baseline and the whole sentence re-centres with a smooth glide.
    • ImprovedSign in to edit: Sign in to edit and export, and your Videos stay in your account.
  31. Text that types itself

Three new Text animations and gradient Text in one day. We also split the Logo reveal into two parts, so your icon and name each have their own box.

    • NewLive typing: Your Text types itself in at a natural rhythm.
    • NewDecode and Word swap: Decode changes letters until the word appears. Word swap rolls one word into the next.
    • NewGradient Text: Fill any Text with a still or moving gradient, and give it a coloured full stop.
    • ImprovedRicher gradient Backgrounds: Backgrounds take two to four gradient colours.
    • NewA two-part Logo reveal: The icon and the name each get their own box, size, colour and Accent, and snap to each other’s centre lines.
    • NewRipple and Wave Accents: Ripple and Wave join the Accents, on Text as well as pictures.
    • FixedHelp above menus: Tooltips inside a menu now show above it instead of hiding underneath.
  32. The Gallery slides in

We built the Gallery, rows of screens or photos that slide in lanes, and the first version of the Logo with its name beside it.

    • NewThe Gallery: Rows of screens or photos slide in lanes. Click a card to replace, crop or reset it.
    • NewLogo with its name: Show your product’s name beside its Logo, and double-click to type it in place.
    • NewAccents on pictures: Image Layers get an Accent row with Wipe and Blur.
    • ImprovedA small badge on previews: Previews in the browser carry a small Dranic badge that stays put as the camera moves.
  33. Patterns arrive, and a Cursor takes its first steps

Patterns are finished and in the Library. We also started on a Cursor Layer that moves across your Shot and clicks, like someone using your app. It isn’t ready for you yet, but it already lands softly and rests like a hand on a mouse.

    • NewPatterns: A field of dots that moves around your Text. Its Entry builds up and its motion carries on into the Exit.
    • NewLearn with Luna: Click Luna for short, optional lessons. Each step asks for one action and lights up where to do it.
    • ImprovedQuieter transition bubbles: Transition bubbles on the timeline are calmer, and one click joins a cut.
    • ImprovedFiles open faster: Your Files and the Video you open now load first, before anything else.
    • FixedClean transitions in Smooth Preview: Some Videos showed a pixelated flash between Shots in Smooth Preview. That’s gone.
  34. Numbers that count up

Text can now count. Type a number and watch it count or roll up to it, with the digits landing one by one. We also began the Patterns Layer, a field of dots that keeps clear of your Text.

    • NewNumber count and Number roll: Two new Text animations. Digits roll through a soft window and land right to left, the main digit last.
    • ImprovedNumbers finish in time: The count lands before the Layer starts to leave, so you always see the final number.
    • FixedStart from stays put: The starting number no longer resets when you click somewhere else.
  35. Background looks you can steer

A full day on Motion Backgrounds. You can steer each look with handles on the canvas, change its Shape and Strength, and undo any of it. Cuts between Backgrounds now blend their final colours smoothly.

    • NewHandles on the canvas: Drag handles on the Background itself to steer its direction and size.
    • ImprovedSmoother Background cuts: Two Backgrounds now blend colour by colour at a cut, with no banding.
    • ImprovedAlready moving: A Background that arrives at a cut is in motion the moment you see it.
    • ImprovedLivelier Strength: Strength makes a clearer difference, and joined slides are easy to see.
    • ImprovedOne size range for every look: Every look scales down to the same smallest size, and Curtain can go narrower.
  36. Motion Backgrounds react to your Layers

Effect Backgrounds now move with the timeline and the Layers on top, and blend across cuts. Five new Background looks arrived too.

    • NewFive new Background looks: Five new moving Backgrounds, and your Text ink adjusts to sit well on them.
    • ImprovedA plain-language Background panel: The Effect panel was redesigned in plain words, with Shuffle for quick variations.
    • NewBackgrounds take transitions: Gradient and Video Backgrounds take transitions at a cut, just like Layers.
    • ImprovedBackgrounds in every Shot: Every Shot type has a Background slot now.
    • ImprovedA cleaner Player: We removed the glow around the Player and its contrast switch.
    • FixedText holds still: Text no longer bounces when you edit the Background behind it.
  37. A timeline that swaps instead of crops

Our biggest timeline day yet. Drag a Layer onto another and they swap or push aside instead of cutting each other short. Shots got tabs you can resize and reorder live, and we began making Backgrounds move with your Layers.

    • ImprovedLayers swap and push: Timeline Layers swap and push instead of cropping when you drag them. Sink one to the bottom to open a new row.
    • ImprovedShot tabs: Resize a whole Shot from its side and drag it to a new place while everything moves live.
    • NewSwap a screenshot from the timeline: Click a Mockup’s screen on the timeline to pick a new screenshot.
    • NewPaste at the playhead: Pasted Layers land where the playhead is. Ctrl+X cuts a Layer too.
    • ImprovedClick what you see: Clicking the canvas selects the Layer you can actually see there.
    • ImprovedTooltips stay clear: Tooltips sit a little away from what you point at, and flip when there’s no room.
    • ImprovedGlowing edges for trimming: Timeline rows light up at the edge you can trim, and transition bubbles follow along as you drag.
    • FixedStart blank means blank: Starting blank now adds an empty Shot.
  38. Luna moves into the timeline

Luna, our cat, now sits on the timeline with you. We also cleaned up how transitions work there: every Shot shows its transition bubbles, and every new Layer starts with a motion you chose.

    • NewLuna on the timeline: Luna keeps you company while you edit. Right-click her to hide her.
    • NewDelete a Shot from the timeline: Right-click a Shot on the timeline to delete it.
    • ImprovedJoin a split transition: Right-click either half of a split transition to join it back.
    • ImprovedExits always play: Trim a Shot and its Layers still play their Exit. Trims snap to nearby edges.
    • ImprovedClear motion from the start: New Layers start with a set Entry and Exit, so what you see is what plays.
    • ImprovedA simpler toolbar: Duration moved off the Layer toolbar. You set it on the timeline now.
    • FixedSmooth seeking: Animated frames stay in place while you scrub.
    • FixedLibrary stays visible: The Layer toolbar no longer covers an open Library panel.
  39. Steadier playback

We polished the new look and made playback and preview steadier.

    • ImprovedSteadier playback: Playback and preview hold up better when you open, close and switch between them.
    • ImprovedSpace plays from the timeline: Press Space with something selected on the timeline and the Player starts.
    • ImprovedText fits its new length: Change a Text’s duration and its whole animation fits the new length.
    • ImprovedToolbars stay inside: The selected Layer’s toolbar stays inside the Player.
  40. Mockup guides that follow the phone

When you select a Mockup, its corner guides now hug the phone’s screen and follow its tilt, the same way they work for Text. Pausing also brings up the toolbar for the Layer on top.

    • ImprovedGuides that match the device: A selected Mockup shows the same corner marks as Text, fitted to the screen even after you resize it.
    • ImprovedToolbar on pause: Pause the Video and the top Layer’s toolbar appears. It stays hidden while playing or scrubbing.
    • NewRemove a screenshot: Remove the screenshot from a Mockup from the toolbar’s ⋮ menu. The screen goes back to its blue placeholder.
    • ImprovedPills you can read: The pills on Mockup Shots and Backgrounds have the same solid backing as the toolbar, so they show on any picture.
    • FixedSelecting a Mockup: Selecting a Mockup is now reliable.
    • FixedToolbar menus in place: Text toolbar menus open in the right place, above the other controls.
  41. Cuts into Mockup Shots stop stuttering

Playing from one Shot into a Mockup Shot now goes straight through, with no pause at the cut.

    • FixedNo pause at the cut: Cuts into a Mockup Shot play smoothly, with no hitch.
  42. The editor starts to wear its new design

We brought the editor closer to our new design, down to the exact shades of the Shot rail and timeline. Along the way, Shots got quicker to switch and the rail got easier to drag.

    • FixedDrag Shots by their picture: You can drag a Shot in the rail by its thumbnail again.
    • ImprovedFaster Shot switching: Mockup thumbnails are kept ready, and playing or scrubbing no longer redraws them.
  43. Measuring the new editor design

We measured our new editor design closely, the side rail, the Player and the menus, so the editor can follow it to the pixel.

  44. Laying out a timeline

We redrew how a video comes together, and it gave the editor a timeline. We started building it: Layers you drag where you point, swap with each other, or drop onto a new row.

  45. Play in one click

Clicking the Player while a Layer is selected now plays the Video straight away, without a second click.

    • ImprovedOne click to play: Click the Player with a Layer selected and the Video plays in that same click.
    • ImprovedQuiet while scrubbing: Controls stay hidden while you drag the playhead and come back when you let go.
    • FixedSteady Text thumbnails: Text Shot thumbnails no longer change every time you pause.
  46. Recolour your Logo

Upload a white Logo and switch it to black, or turn a colour Logo to greyscale without losing its detail. We also calmed down the Library so bright thumbnails don’t pull your eye.

    • NewLogo colours: Pick Original, Grayscale, Inverted, Black or White for your Logo, and set its opacity.
    • ImprovedLogo motion menus: Logo Entry and Exit use the same icon menus as Text.
    • FixedLogos stay put: Changing a Logo’s alignment no longer moves it.
    • ImprovedA calmer Library: Library thumbnails rest in muted greyscale and play in full colour when you hover them.
    • FixedWindows stay open: Selecting text inside a window no longer closes it when the pointer slips outside.
  47. Text stays put when you align it

Text got steadier today. Switching between left, centre and right now aligns the words inside the box without moving the box, and the toolbar comes back after you resize or scale.

    • FixedAlignment without jumps: Changing Text alignment keeps the Layer where it is.
    • FixedToolbar returns: The toolbar reappears after you resize or scale a Text.
    • ImprovedText sizes remembered: Each Text animation keeps its own default font size.
    • ImprovedTruer letter spacing: Animated letter spacing now matches how it was designed.
    • NewA new Split Join entry: A new Text Entry where the words come together, split into balanced groups.
  48. Type numbers straight into the toolbar

Click a number in the Layer toolbar and type a new one. We also tidied the Entry and Exit menus so each motion sits in the same spot in both.

    • ImprovedEdit numbers inline: Click a number in the toolbar and type. No extra box opens.
    • ImprovedTidier motion menus: Entry and Exit menus have icons, with Auto and None on the first line.
    • ImprovedCopy and Delete: Right-clicking a Layer shows the same Copy and Delete as its toolbar.
    • FixedText timing: Text animations end exactly at the end of their duration.
    • FixedSelecting Text: Selecting words inside a Text works again, and animated letter spacing renders correctly.
  49. Typing Text joins the Library

A typing animation joined the Library: your Text types itself in, letter by letter, and fades away. We also smoothed exits for Layers that slide in and shrink out.

    • NewTyping Text: Pick the typing effect and your Text types in letter by letter.
    • FixedSmoother motion pairs: A Layer that slides in and shrinks or grows out no longer jumps when its Exit starts.
    • FixedResize Text from its sides: Text resizes from its sides without jumping, and the box hugs the words after you let go.
    • FixedShort screenshot warning: The warning for a short screenshot is simpler and stays until you dismiss it.
  50. Exports pass their final check

We checked exports closely. Every final MP4 plays cleanly, and one combined Video and its separate Shots now last exactly as long as each other.

    • FixedExact export timing: Exported MP4s keep the same timing as the editor.
    • FixedDismiss the screenshot warning: The short-screenshot warning can be dismissed.
  51. Export your Video as an MP4

Export arrived. Save the whole Video as one MP4, or each Shot as its own file, at the frame rate you pick. The export window shows a preview and stays out of your way while it works.

    • NewOne MP4 or one per Shot: Export the whole Video as one file, or every Shot as a separate clip in a ZIP.
    • NewPick the frame rate: Choose the frame rate for your export.
    • ImprovedA new export window: A compact window with a live preview that keeps its progress in place.
    • FixedNeat pill edges: The Background pill’s outline no longer spills past its edge.
  52. Preview the whole Video

Open a bigger Player and watch the whole Video from start to finish before you export it. In the editor, each Shot now loops while you work on it.

    • NewFull Video preview: Preview the whole Video in a large Player, prepared ahead so it plays smoothly.
    • ImprovedShots loop as you edit: The Shot you’re working on plays on a loop. Switch to Video to play everything.
    • ImprovedSmooth header: The header changes smoothly between editing and viewing, and the Shot rail stays still.
  53. Simpler colour controls

Gradient Backgrounds now use simple round colour wells instead of a fiddly from-and-to strip. Playback also stays smooth over long sessions.

    • ImprovedColour wells: Gradient Backgrounds use simple colour wells, and every colour control looks the same.
    • FixedPlayback stays smooth: Old playback work no longer piles up and slows the Player down.
    • FixedBox selection: Box selection on the canvas is smooth.
    • ImprovedShot rail fits: The Shot rail lines up with the Player at any window size.
  54. Video Backgrounds and 60 FPS playback

Backgrounds can be video now, with redesigned controls. Every Layer now moves in one continuous flow, and you can watch it all at 30 or 60 FPS.

    • NewVideo Backgrounds: Put a moving video behind your Layers, with redesigned Background controls.
    • NewOne continuous move: Each Layer’s Entry carries on into its Exit without a stop.
    • New30 or 60 FPS: Play the editor at 30 or 60 FPS. Motion keeps the same speed either way.
    • ImprovedNew Text shows in full: New Text opens at the frame where it’s fully visible.
    • FixedNo flash on loop: A video Background no longer flashes when it loops.
    • ImprovedA calmer Shot rail: The Shot rail looks lighter, and the Player has more room around it.
  55. Motion that carries its momentum

We worked on how Layers move. A Layer’s Entry now flows into its Exit without a stop in between, so Text and Mockups feel like one continuous move. Grow and Shrink pairs came out the smoothest.

    • ImprovedFlowing motion: Entry momentum carries through the middle of a Layer and into its Exit.
    • ImprovedPlacing Layers: Dragging and centring a Layer works the same whatever its motion is doing.
    • ImprovedDevice editing: The edit box around a device matches the device.
    • FixedEditor opens reliably: The editor opens reliably, even while a Shot loads.
  56. One editor for every Video

The new Video editor became the only one, and the toolbar you get when you select a Layer got tidier.

    • ImprovedThe new editor by default: Every Video now opens in the new editor.
    • ImprovedA tidier Layer toolbar: Selected Layers share one toolbar, packed neatly around your Text.
  57. Drag from the Library into any Shot

This is the day Dranic turned fully towards product videos. Drag Text, Mockups and Backgrounds from the Library into any Shot, or between Shots to start a new one.

    • NewDrag from the Library: Drag Text, Mockups and Backgrounds from the Library into any Shot.
    • NewText in the Library: Text animations now come from the Library like everything else.
    • FixedShot menus close: Shot menus close when you click the canvas.
  58. Organise Shots into Sections

Group the Shots of a promo video into named Sections, and move Shots between them.

    • NewSections: Organise your Shots into named Sections.
    • ImprovedFinish naming with a click: Click the canvas to finish naming a Section.
    • ImprovedLibrary drops land right: Library items drag into the right place in a video.
  59. Groundwork for videos built from Layers

We laid the base for promo videos built from Shots and Layers, each with its own motion, so Text, Logos, Mockups and Backgrounds can be mixed freely.

  60. Planning the next stretch

No new features today. We planned the next stretch of the video editor.

  61. Text Layers play one after another

In the new video editor, a Shot with several Text Layers now plays them in order, each one taking its turn. We also tuned how different kinds of motion hand over to each other.

    • NewText in sequence: Text Layers in a Shot play one after the other instead of all at once.
    • ImprovedSmoother hand-offs: Motion is balanced across different movement types, so one Layer’s exit leads more evenly into the next one’s entry.
  62. Name your Sections, see your Shots

The strip beside the player got a proper tidy. You can rename Sections right there, every Shot shows as a 16:9 thumbnail, and long titles end in a neat “…” instead of being chopped off.

    • NewEditable Section titles: Click a Section title in the side strip and type a new name.
    • ImprovedShot thumbnails: Shots sit side by side as 16:9 thumbnails, with a clear look for the one you’re on and for several picked together.
    • FixedLong titles fit: Long Video and Section titles used to be cut off mid-letter. They now end with an ellipsis.
  63. Groundwork for Layers that carry their momentum

A behind-the-scenes day on making movement between Layers feel like one continuous push.

  64. The editor opens without a hiccup

The video editor now opens cleanly on first load.

    • FixedClean first load: Opening the video editor fresh no longer trips an error on load. Tooltips still show as before.
  65. A steady base for directional motion

Layer motion now moves in clean, steady directions, a solid base for what comes next.

  66. Checking motion in the real editor

We played Mockup and Logo motion inside the real editor, to be sure it behaves the same where you actually make videos.

  67. Smoothing Mockup and Logo motion

We went through Layer motion closely to smooth out small jumps in Mockups and Logos.

  68. Groundwork for the new video editor

We laid the base of the new editor today. None of it shows yet, but everything after it builds on this.

  69. Getting Layer motion right

No changes today. We took time to get Layer motion right before building more.

  70. Tidying up after Mockup motion

A short day of checks and clean-up following yesterday’s Mockup and Logo motion work.

  71. Mockups and Logos start to move like Text

We brought Mockups and Logos onto the same Entry, Idle and Exit motion that Text uses in the new editor.

    • FixedIdle motion keeps going: Idle drift keeps going, and shrinking Layers stay steady.
  72. Steadier saving

Saving got steadier: your Video only saves when you change something.

    • FixedLoading never saves: Just opening a Video leaves it as it was.
    • FixedSwitching Videos cleanly: Moving from one Video to another starts the editor fresh, so nothing carries over from the last one.
    • FixedDeleting the last Shot: If you delete the final Shot on purpose, that change still saves.
  73. Checking the library

A day of checks on the library and on Mockups in saved Videos.

  74. Rethinking how motion Shots work

We asked a plain question: if you have screenshots and want a promo video, what should making a moving Shot feel like? We studied the editor with that person in mind, and built a large piece of the new editor’s core.

  75. Text presets become their own Shots

A busy day in the library. Text presets now arrive as their own Shots instead of piling into whatever was playing, your picks survive a refresh, and the library speaks your language again.

    • ImprovedOne preset, one Shot: Click or drag several Text presets and each becomes its own Shot, in order. Text designed as a group stays together.
    • FixedPresets survive a refresh: Text presets you add now save with your Video.
    • FixedShot order is kept: The order of your Shots and where they cut is saved and comes back the same after a reload.
    • ImprovedA clearer library: The library is back to All, Text, Mockups and Scenes, without empty coming-soon tabs or technical labels. (Scenes have since been retired.)
  76. Playback checks

A day of checks on the new player.

  77. A round of hands-on playback checks

We kept building the new player and watched it play to make sure it felt right.

  78. Animated Layers and ready-made Shots play as one

The new player learned to run animated Layers and ready-made Mockup and Scene Shots in a single Video, so the preview and the thumbnails always agree.

    • NewMixed Shots in one Video: Shots built from animated Layers and ready-made Shots now play back to back in the same Video.
    • ImprovedLighter on memory: Long editing sessions stay light.
  79. Each Layer picks up where the last one left

We built the motion system for the new editor. When a Layer exits, the next one can enter in the same direction, so the Video keeps flowing instead of starting over each time.

    • NewAuto Entry: Set a Layer’s Entry to Auto and it follows the direction of the Exit before it. With nothing to follow, it uses the preset’s own Entry.
  80. Bringing designed Text animations in

We started bringing new Text animations into the video editor.

  81. Laying rails for Shots made of Layers

We kept building the new way of making a video, where a Shot is made of separate Layers that each come in and go out.

  82. Teaching Layers how to enter and leave

Each Layer now saves how it comes in, rests and goes out.

  83. Recolouring see-through gradient Backgrounds

Gradient Backgrounds with see-through parts can now be recoloured, with a solid colour behind them.

  84. A Shot can be just a Background

Groundwork for the new editor. We set up Shots that hold only a Background, three seconds long unless you change it, so you can leave a calm pause between moments.

  85. Saved videos remember their exact Scenes

A big day of groundwork. Videos you’ve made keep looking the way you left them, even as we improve Mockups and Scenes.

    • ImprovedPause keeps your Text edit: Pause while you’re editing Text and the edit stays open, on the frame you were looking at.
  86. Planning the new editor, one step at a time

We planned the new video editor, where Shots can be built from separate Layers next to the Mockups and Scenes you already know.

  87. Loading states for sign-in

We tidied the editor and added loading states to sign-in so you can see it working.

  88. Edit Text right where it is

Text got a lot friendlier to work with. Pause anywhere, click the Text you see and change it in place, at its own size, without it jumping to the middle.

    • NewAnimated Text Layers: Text in your video is now its own animated Layer.
    • ImprovedText stays put when you edit: Click Text in a paused video and it opens for editing where it is, at the size it is.
    • ImprovedA clean frame to edit on: Clicking paused Text shows all of it, with no half-finished animation in the way.
    • NewDrag Text straight away: Drag any Text you can see without selecting it first. Its settings open when you let go.
    • ImprovedTiny Text is easy to grab: Text caught mid-shrink gets a small minimum size while you edit it.
    • ImprovedClicking away stays paused: The first click outside Text closes the edit and keeps the video paused. Click again to play.
    • ImprovedFewer tooltips in the way: We removed tooltips that covered what you were working on. Toasts stay as they were.
  89. Rethinking how a video is put together

We worked out how the beta should work: one MP4 made from all your Shots, Layers that hand their motion on to the next one, and plain names for the scale moves, Shrink inward and Grow outward.

  90. Choosing the shape of a video

We chose how a video should be built from smaller parts that play one after another, and kept that separate from the parts that sit on top of each other in a single moment. It is the model behind the editor we are building now.

  91. Sign in without a password

A simpler way in: no password, just a link to your email or Google.

    • NewSign in by email link or Google: Sign in without a password, with a link sent to your email or with Google.
    • NewA page for failed sign-in links: If a sign-in link doesn’t work, a page now tells you so.
  92. Sign-up and log-in screens

We built the sign-up and log-in screens, with Google and email side by side, ready for launch.

  93. Dranic goes online for the first time

We put the app on the web for the first time today.

  94. One Background control for every Shot

Mockups, Scenes and Text now share one Background pill that works the same everywhere.

    • ImprovedOne Background pill: Every Shot opens the same glassy Background control, with Fill, Elements and Advanced.
    • NewSolid and gradient Scene Backgrounds: Scenes built from flat colours can take a solid colour or a gradient behind them.
    • FixedSolid colours stay exact: Picking a solid colour for part of a Scene now gives you exactly that colour.
    • FixedScene Text sits where it should: Text in some Scenes sat a little high. It now lands where it was designed, with nothing to redo.
    • ImprovedEvery Text in a Scene: Scenes with several Text animations list each one as Text 1, Text 2 and so on.
    • ImprovedLayers bar fits small players: The Layers bar under the player shrinks with it instead of crowding the play button.
  95. Upload any screenshot and keep the quality

The biggest change today: you no longer need to think about screenshot file sizes.

    • ImprovedBig screenshots welcome: Upload a screenshot of any size. We shrink it for you without losing sharpness.
    • FixedScreenshots sit right in the phone: A real iPhone screenshot sat a little high in the Mockup. It now lines up with the screen.
    • FixedEditing Text no longer jumps: Typing into Text in a Scene or Text animation keeps it in place, with no scroll bar or surprise line breaks.
    • ImprovedPick the Text you can see: Click any Text showing on the paused frame to select and edit it.
    • ImprovedBackground in every Layer list: Mockups and Scenes both list a Background you can click to open its controls. Long lists tuck the rest behind a … button.
    • ImprovedTooltips match the toasts: Tooltips got the same polished style as toasts, and no longer make scroll bars appear.
    • ImprovedSmoothing while you play: While a Mockup prepares smoother playback, the player shows Smoothing with a percentage, and you can keep playing.
  96. A gentler way to remove a Shot

Removing a Shot used to rely on a small cross that was easy to miss. Now the Shot goes and a short note confirms it.

    • ImprovedShot removed note: Remove a Shot and a small dark note confirms it a moment later, centred on the player.
    • ImprovedRoomier Layer pills: The pills on the player got more breathing room, a glassy look and lighter type.
  97. New videos open faster

We took an honest look at what Dranic needs before a beta, then made starting a video quicker.

    • FixedNew video opens first time: Clicking New video could do nothing or take a long time. It now opens quickly on the first click.
    • ImprovedLoading that tells a story: While a Mockup or Scene gets ready, short lines like Finding the best angle and Setting the stage play over a soft shimmer.
  98. Behind-the-scenes upkeep

No product changes today, just upkeep behind the scenes.

  99. How a screenshot should fit a phone

We settled how a screenshot fits a phone Mockup: it lines up at the top, fills the width, and anything taller carries on behind the phone, neatly clipped. We also drafted a friendly message for screenshots that are too short.

    • FixedNotch follows the phone: The Notch pill now moves with the top of the screen, like the Screen and Hand pills.
  100. Phones that stretch to fit your screenshot

Phone Mockups now adapt to your screenshot instead of squashing it.

    • NewMockups adapt to your screen: The phone’s parts move to fit taller or shorter screenshots across device sizes.
    • FixedSmoother loading shimmer: The shimmer on loading text no longer jumps back at the end of each pass.
  101. Steadier Scenes

Scenes got steadier and a little quicker to start.

    • ImprovedScenes play more steadily: We cut wasted work from every frame, so Scenes keep a steadier pace.
    • ImprovedMedia starts sooner: Shots start a little faster.
    • ImprovedNicer screenshot cards: Screenshot files in Files show their screens with room to breathe, the last one trailing off the edge.
  102. Export a whole demo video as one MP4

Your demo video can now leave the browser as a single MP4, Text and all. Scenes also got lighter on slower machines.

    • NewOne MP4 for the whole video: Mockups, Scenes and Text animations export together as one MP4.
    • ImprovedLighter recolouring: Recoloured Scenes play more lightly.
    • ImprovedThumbnails show your video: Video files show their first Shot’s best frame instead of a stock poster.
  103. Tidying the asset library behind the scenes

We tidied the library behind the scenes so new Mockups, Scenes and Text animations reach you quicker.

  104. Start from a blank canvas

A new promo video now opens on a blank canvas, and you pick what to add from inside it.

    • NewA picker inside the canvas: Choose a Mockup, a Scene or Text right where you’ll see it, instead of on a separate page.
    • NewOne MP4 for everything: Mockups, Scenes and Text export together as a single MP4.
  105. The app moves to /app

Moving day. The editor now lives at /app.

    • ImprovedA new address: Open the editor at /app.
  106. Scenes take on your brand colour

We added Scenes: animated compositions made by hand, layer by layer. They recolour to your brand and export as MP4 right in the browser. (Scenes have since been retired.)

    • NewAnimated Scenes: Drop a ready-made animated Scene into your promo video.
    • NewRecolour to your brand: Each Scene has a Background and an Accent colour you can change to match your app.
    • NewScenes export as MP4: Scenes render into your MP4 in the browser, like the rest of the video.
  107. Groundwork for Text animations

Groundwork for Text: we made it quicker to bring new ways for your words to move into the library.

  108. Faster ways to add new phone shots

We made it quicker to add new phone Mockups to the library, and laid out the shell of the promo video editor.

  109. Scrubbing feels smooth

Dragging through your promo video now follows your hand closely. We also tightened how your screenshot stays locked to the moving phone.

    • ImprovedSmoother scrubbing: Drag the playhead and the video keeps up, frame by frame.
    • FixedScreens stay on the phone: Your screenshot stays inside the phone’s screen.
  110. Gradient Backgrounds behind your video

Promo videos now stack their parts in a clear order, with a gradient Background at the back. What you see in the editor is what the export draws.

    • NewGradient Backgrounds: Pick a gradient to sit behind the phone and your Text.
    • ImprovedOne look everywhere: The editor and the export share one way of drawing the video, so they match.
  111. Export a promo video as MP4

Your promo video now exports as an MP4 straight from the browser, with your Text on top.

    • NewMP4 export in the browser: Export the phone, its moving screen and your Text as one MP4, without waiting on a server.
  112. Editing Text on promo videos

We kept building the promo video editor. Text Layers got their own editing controls, and the editor around them took shape.

    • NewText Layer controls: Edit the words, size and timing of Text on your promo video.
  113. Text on promo videos, sized in pixels

Text on a promo video is now sized in real pixels, so the number you type is what you get. A handful of fixes made Text behave on the moving phone.

    • ImprovedReal pixel sizes: Text sizes match the video’s own pixels.
    • ImprovedType into number fields: Click a number and type a new value instead of dragging to it.

    • FixedText stays visible: Text always shows, even before the phone has loaded.
    • FixedText Exit works: The control for how Text leaves now does what it says.
  114. A phone that holds your screenshot

We built the heart of the promo video editor: a moving 3D phone with your screenshot mapped onto its screen, plus playback and undo.

    • NewScreens on moving phones: Your screenshot is drawn onto the phone’s screen and follows it as it turns.
    • NewBuild, play and undo: Build a video from Shots, play it back, and undo or redo as you go.
  115. First steps towards promo videos

Today we started on something new: video projects. We laid down how a video is stored, edited and drawn, the first step from still screenshots towards promo videos.

  116. All your files in one place

The Files page now shows a preview of each design, and those previews stay put between visits. Work you started before signing in comes with you to your account.

    • NewSaved previews: Each file on the Files page shows a picture of your design.
    • ImprovedKeep your guest work: Anything you made before signing in moves to your account when you do.
  117. More than one file per project

A project can now hold several files, each saved to the cloud as you work. A new Files page shows them all in a grid.

    • NewSeveral files per project: Keep different screenshot sets side by side in one project.
    • NewThe Files page: See all your files in one grid and open any of them.
  118. An App Store preview you can scroll

See your screenshots the way people will meet them, in a scrollable App Store gallery. Exports also got thumbnails and became more reliable.

    • ImprovedScroll the gallery: The App Store preview snaps from screenshot to screenshot as you scroll.
    • ImprovedSteadier exports: Exports are more reliable.
  119. Sign in and keep your work

Accounts arrived. Sign in with a magic link and your projects are yours to come back to. Exports moved to the server, so every screenshot comes out crisp and edge to edge.

    • NewMagic link sign-in: Get a link by email and you’re in, no password needed.
    • ImprovedExports made on the server: Screenshots are rendered on the server, so they come out the same every time.
    • FixedNo more corner gaps: Full-bleed designs no longer export with little gaps at the rounded corners.
  120. Drag elements from a library

The Elements library now loads quickly and you can drag anything from it straight onto your screenshot. Your project also saves itself as you work.

    • NewDrag to the canvas: Pull an element from the library and drop it where you want it.
    • NewAutosave: Changes save on their own while you edit.
  121. An Elements panel

We added an Elements panel with tabs for each kind of element, and you can save your own pieces into it. The canvas also learnt to snap things into line.

    • NewElements panel: Browse elements by tab and save your own to reuse later.
    • ImprovedSnapping: Items snap into line as you move them on the canvas.
  122. See it in the App Store

A new preview shows your screenshots inside an App Store listing, with a gallery you can click through. We also reworked the editor around the canvas with right-click menus.

    • NewApp Store preview: Check how your screenshots look in a real-looking App Store page.
    • ImprovedRight-click menus: Right-click any item on the canvas for the actions that fit it.
  123. Groundwork for accounts

We built sign-in, autosave and project storage so your screenshots could one day live in your account rather than one browser. It went live a few days later.

  124. Move things between screenshots

Drag a photo, text or shape from one screenshot into the next. We also fixed a few rough edges that showed up in the first days of use.

    • NewCross-screenshot moves: Drag photos, text and shapes from one screenshot onto another.
    • ImprovedRounded corners for every shape: One corner setting works on all shapes, triangles included.
    • FixedRedo works: Ctrl+Shift+Z now redoes what you undid.
